US Data CentreOur US servers are based in EV1Servers DC2, Project Imperial, Houston, Texas, a 65,000 squar feet facility housing over 18,000 servers. Ths makes it the worlds largest dedicated hosting data centre.

NETWORK
Network infrastructure is via 14 Gigabit Ethernet links from seven separate backbone providers. Each fibres optic cable is routed into the data centre via 2 entry points to ensure redudancy. Transit providers include Allegiance, Cogent, Verio and Abovenet. DC2 also interconnects to DC1 allowing access to further transit provided by Time Warner, Savvis and Williams.
SECURITY
The datacentre has 24/7 security consisting of on-site personel, security barriers, 24x7x356 monitoring and CCTV cameras.
ACCESS
Access to the interior of the building, data floors and individual areas is via a single front access door. This is manned 24x7x365 by security who must open this to allow access. The only other entry to the facility is via the loading door which is protected by a roll down door and may only be operated with a security office present. Movement throughout the building is escorted at ALL times.
POWER
Power into the building consists of 7,200 Amps, 3 phase at 480 Volts, providing a maximum of 3.5MW of available power. Emergency backup consists of 5 UPS units and 2 backup generators.
The UPS systems comprise 5 x 375kVA units permanently charged to provide interim power, in the even of a mains power failure, while the backup generators come online.
2 backup generators of 1250kW and 1500kW capacity are routed via an Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) to bring emergency power online within 15 seconds of a utility power failure.
FIRE DETECTION & SUPPRESSION
Fire detection systems operate throughout the building and are constantly monitored. In the event of a fire detection, the fire suppression system will operate to contain and extiguish the fire with the minimum risk of damage to equipment.
AIR CONDITIONING
To ensure optimum performance, all data floors are maintained at a constant 21°C ± 2°C and relative humidity is kept at 50% ± 10%. Both are continually monitored. |
